“Potted Potter” returns to the Pittsburgh stage
Love Harry Potter? Don’t miss Potted Potter-The Unauthorized Harry Experience May 5-7 at the Byham Theater.
The wildly popular parody show has been performed at sold out venues worldwide. Potted Potter tackles the monumental task of combining all seven Harry Potter titles and even incorporates a game of Quidditch into a 70 minute mix of pure hilarity. Even if you’re not a huge Harry Potter fan, you’ll love this show.
Potted Potter was created by the comedy duo Dan and Jeff who are also known for Potted Pirates and Potted Panto. No strangers to the stage, the pair plans to continue to produce whimsical shows. Next up? Potted Sherlock.
Writer and co-creator Jefferson Turner, who worked with Dan and Jeff on Potted Pirates and Potted Panto, has extensive television experience, including gigs on Big Brother’s Little Brother and BBC’s The Slammer.
Originally created in 2005 when Dan and Jeff were asked to write a script parodying and recapping the plot of the first five Harry Potter books, Potted Potter has had a very successful ten year run.
In 2012, the show was nominated for an Olivier Award for best family entertainment. At the same time, Potted Panto was nominated for best new comedy in the Whatsonstage Awards.
The same year, Potted Potter premiered in North America in Toronto and then opened off Broadway in New York City.
Potted Potter continues to circle the globe, performing for sold old audiences. Two years ago, the show premiered in Pittsburgh where it received great acclaim.
Potted Potter is presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust as part of the Cohen & Gigsby Trust Presents series. Tickets are available online at trustarts.org, by calling 412-456-6666 or in person at the Theater Square Box Office, 655 Penn Avenue. For more information, visit pottedpotter.com.
