Pittsburgh comedian Amy Capiross announces benefit show
Pittsburgh comedian Amy Capiross will stage a special performance this holiday season at Mogie’s Irish Pub, benefiting those in need of warm winter items. The show will take place at Mogie’s Irish Pub, located at 3210 Leechburg Rd, Lower Burrell, on Saturday, December 27 at 9 p.m. Tickets are $5 and there will be a collection box for warm items to be donated.
Capiross has been staging charity shows for over four years, but this is the first time that items will be donated in place of money. She teamed up with friend Genene Hack with the goal of making a difference to the homeless during the chilly winter months. With the help of her mother Lorraine Menk, Hack has been putting together care packages that include coats, blankets, gloves and hats. Hack, accompanied by friends, Capiross included, plans to walk around the city of Pittsburgh and give the items out to those who have nowhere to seek warmth.
“Every time it is freezing cold, I think about how some people have no roof over their heads. We just want to make a difference,” Capiross said. Any left over items will be donated to homeless shelters and or soup kitchens.
The show will feature comedians Parris Knight, Shannon Norman and Mike Sasson. Capiross will serve as the show’s host.
